Frequently Asked
Questions

You should see a gynaecologist for any concerns related to your reproductive or menstrual health. This includes issues like irregular periods, heavy bleeding, pelvic pain, vaginal discharge, or unusual symptoms. Regular visits are also recommended for routine screenings such as pap smears, HPV tests, and general women’s health checks. If you’re planning to conceive, experiencing menopause symptoms, or need advice on contraception, a gynaecologist can guide you accordingly.
You should see an obstetrician when you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or need support with fertility or prenatal care. An obstetrician provides medical care from the early stages of conception to delivery and postnatal recovery. If you have a high-risk pregnancy or pre-existing medical conditions, an obstetrician ensures that both you and your baby receive the right monitoring and support from the start.
For private insurance: SingLife Shield, Prudential Shield. For corporate insurance: iXchange, Fullerton Healthcare. However, other insurances may also be accepted. Please contact the clinic directly for more information.
In general, you can expect to receive a full consultation with proper medical history taking, abdominal and vaginal examination, bedside ultrasound pelvic scan. Thereafter, the gynaecologist will inform the patient of their findings, recommend treatment options or further investigations to support the diagnosis.
Not necessarily. Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) approach is usually preferred because the post-operative recovery is faster. However, it may not be the most suitable approach for all cases. For example, a large ovarian cyst, fibroid or pelvic mass; or if the patient has had previous surgeries with possible high risk of pelvic adhesions. Situations like these will make MIS a more challenging and less advisable route.
